Quiz Night XL is a fun and challenging “Science & Technology” themed quiz played by 1400 people, in teams of 5. Thanks to a broad number of categories there is something for everyone in this quiz!
From Einstein to iPhone!
From Einstein to iPhone, from Newton to Hawking and from the history of science to the latest gadgets, you can expect all sorts of questions in this quiz, which tackles all of the major and minor topics from the world of science and technology.
Each team will receive an interactive voting box, via which they will answer multiple choice questions, but also questions where they will be asked to put things in the correct order, or enter in the correct number. For each question teams will have a fixed number of seconds to deliberate and submit their answer.
The quiz will be hosted by Number 42‘s quiz master Julinka van Keulen, together with special guests and our resident professor. More information can be found in our program.
What do we mean by ScienceĀ & Technology?
This means a wide range of things; from explosive experiments to questions such as: “What is this device used for?”. Physics, Chemistry, Technology, Biology and Computer Science are just a few topics you can expect questions on during this quiz. Each question is supported by visuals and video.
Quizzing via an interactive voting system.
In a ‘regular’ pub quiz teams answer questions on a paper answer sheet. But because a quiz this size would ask for serious amounts of pens and paper, we’ll be using interactive voting boxes for Quiz Night XL.
Each table will have one voting box per team which will be used to answer the questions. Some questions will be multiple-choice, but there will also be questions such as “Identify the odd one out”, or “Put the following inventions in the correct order, starting with the earliest one”. Others will require teams to enter in a number as their answer. After the question has been asked, a clock will indicate how many seconds are left to deliberate and put in the answer. That means none of the questions will be repeated!
The quiz consists of several themed rounds. Some questions come with a margin, meaning: the more accurate the answer is, the more points your team earns.
